Music inspires and generates timeless masterpieces: enhancing the classical purity and wonderful geometries of the four movements and overwhelming finale of George Balanchine’s Symphony in C, a great example of his “concertante” genre, danced to the notes of the Symphony no. 1 in C major by Georges Bizet; or flawlessly connecting the splendid ensembles and the lyrical, passionate or aggressive pas de deux in Jirˇí Kylián’s choreographic gem, Petite Mort, to music from two of Mozart’s most beautiful concertos; and finally, defining the rituality, powerful sensuality, and enthralling intensity of Béjart’s iconic ballet to the notes of Ravel’s Boléro, with étoile Roberto Bolle on the mythical round table. Great dance born of great music, also conducted by Felix Korobov.
