|Maître de Ballet||Antonino Sutera|
On Thursday 29 April, on the occasion of the International Dance Day, the Teatro alla Scala will broadcast a complete lesson of the Ballet Company, in a formula especially designed by Ballet Director Manuel Legris for this occasion: the class is recorded on the Theater stage, and not in the studio.
“I wanted La Scala Ballet Company to be present on this special day, in which dance is celebrated, but aware that we celebrate dance every day, since we put our hand on the bar to start the class. So I decided to offer the audience a look at an almost intimate moment, as our daily class is, and to share this important phase of artistic preparation with the La Scala dancers: the beginning of a day of rehearsals, the moment in which the artists begin the work that will lead them in the following hours to face stylistic and interpretative challenges, working on a piece which will then be staged on this stage".
From the barre to the center, from the first pliés to the manèges and the big jumps: the class is entrusted to Antonino Sutera, principal dancer who has developed at La Scala his artistic career with important productions and key roles in the ballet repertoire and who is now working as maître de ballet; on the piano Alberto Nanetti.
