Riccardo Chailly has a profound and timeless bond with the music of Rossini and his baton has written magnificent pages in the history of theatre and recordings. And so we should all be delighted at his choice to stage a new Barbiere di Siviglia at La Scala. It will be embellished by the debut of the intelligent and poetic stage director Leo Muscato and feature a youthful and energetic cast, with Mattia Olivieri in the role of Figaro alongside Svetlina Stoyanova as Rosina.
