In a tribute to Nureyev on the thirtieth anniversary of his death, the Ballet Season opens with the grand return after sixteen years of his Nutcracker, which saw him many times on stage as Drosselmeyer who transforms into a splendid Prince. In the historical production by Nicholas Georgiadis, dreamy snowflakes, battles between mice and toy soldiers, splendid waltzes and extraordinary pas-de-deux accompany the dream of Clara and her Prince and will enthral the youngest as well in the magical yuletide atmosphere, an ideal context for the return of this masterpiece of choreography and music.
