With the initiative Viva Verdi, the Ministry of Culture, in collaboration with the Italian opera-symphonic theatres, supports the project to safeguard, promote and enhance Villa Verdi, the composer's house-museum in Sant'Agata di Villanova sull'Arda. La Scala takes part in the initiative by offering to the public Macbeth's preview on Thursday 15 June at 8pm.
This is the revival of the production that opened the 2021/2022 Season with 12 minutes of applause, marking an important step towards normality after the pandemic. The staging, set in a dystopic present or future, is signed by Davide Livermore and is rich in evocations of the architecture of Piero Portaluppi designed by Gio Forma, while the costumes are made by Gianluca Falaschi. On the podium Giampaolo Bisanti, Milanese conductor at his second Scala title after the success achieved with Adriana Lacouvreur. The protagonist is Luca Salsi, as on 7 December 2021, a Verdi baritone of reference in our years, while the Lady is Ekaterina Semenchuck, also an intense performer of some shows in December 2021. The main roles are completed by Jongmin Park as Banco and Fabio Sartori as Macduff.
